Comedian Cyrus Broacha owes his toned body at 55 to weight lifting: ‘My shape is better, but my size…’ – Lifestyle News

India’s favourite comedian Cyrus Broacha, who’s also a podcaster, political satirist, author, among many other things, is in the news, this time for his fitness journey. The comedian, famous for his pranks, opened up on his weight loss and toned body at the age of 55, thanks to weight training and a strict routine. Speaking with fitness buff Bani J on his podcast, Cyrus said, “I have always been into weight training. I am a little more careful now. My shape is better, but my size…could be better. I always loved training. During the pandemic, I cleaned up a lot. I went and got a barbell, I got a squat rack, I got a bench, and I had 340 pounds (154 kilos) of weight.”

In the same podcast, he also revealed that he is into power building, “which is a mix of both.” He said, “I am doing a little backward walking to get the blood flow better.”

Speaking to actor Rohit Roy in another episode, he shared how he finds a gym everywhere he goes and trains. Broacha said, “I train everywhere I go. I find a gym somewhere. I do fast workouts. I don’t do cardio. I don’t walk.” He also opened up on his diet and his fasting timings. “I don’t eat 7-7. I workout fasted, but eat immediately (after),” he added.

Broacha also points towards not being in favour of a severe diet as he says, “As I start, I finish two protein shakes. My eggs start going in. Reality is that you can’t go so extreme (with diets).

He told Bani also that he doesn’t prefer a restricted diet. “I eat well in the first half of the day. I eat eggs. Avoid carbs,” divulged the comic.

According to fitness experts, lifting weights and calorie deficits are important, but it is also significant to optimize macros and focus on protein intake for muscle sustainability and consider HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, to lose weight efficiently. “Each body is different, and achieving this goal demands a holistic approach beyond one-size-fits-all solutions,” said Tarundeep Singh Rekhi, a digital creator and fitness expert, to Indian Express.

Experts also suggest that keeping track of food intake can really help to attain fitness goals, and it’s even better if a nutritionist gets involved.
