WANA (Oct 29) – Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, has stressed the need for Iran’s diplomatic apparatus to play a more active and results-oriented role in defending the country’s national rights and interests.
The remarks came at a specialized meeting of legal and international affairs directors and experts at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which focused on the ministry’s responsibilities and activities in legal and international affairs.
Greater Use of International Capacities
During the three-hour meeting, Gharibabadi outlined the current situation and the critical responsibilities facing Iran’s diplomatic apparatus. He also reviewed the key measures taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the past year and a half, including during the two imposed wars.
Referring to complex developments in the international system and threats to regional and international peace and security, he emphasized the need for a strategic, initiative-driven, and results-oriented approach to diplomatic activities.
He said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should make effective use of the capacities of international organizations, multilateral institutions, and international legal mechanisms to advance Iran’s national objectives and interests.
Iran’s Legal and Multilateral Diplomacy
In recent months, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has emphasized greater participation by government bodies in regional and international organizations, as well as the targeted use of these institutions’ capacities.
At another meeting held in October 2026, Gharibabadi also stressed the need for planning and effective engagement with international organizations. This approach seeks to strengthen coordination between domestic institutions and the diplomatic apparatus in pursuing legal and international affairs.
