HBO’s Harry Potter is almost two months away from its December release date. As that date approaches, fans are going back to the previous two trailers on YouTube. As the second live-action interpretation of the seven-book series, the HBO show has been described as an accurate adaptation. However, there are things that we noticed are additions the show is including that could explain certain elements.

The last trailer for the HBO show includes a shot of the Weasley family (minus Arthur) inside The Burrow. Here we meet the fan-favorite comedy duo, Fred and George Weasley, played by Tristan and Gabriel Harland. While we don’t know much about their characters, eagle-eyed fans noticed something that the HBO Harry Potter series might be establishing about these twins.

The twins could be identified outside Hogwarts in the HBO Harry Potter series:

A fan pointed out that in The Burrow scene, the twins are wearing two very different colored clothes. One of the twins is wearing Muggle clothing that’s red, while the other is wearing clothing that’s orange. The fan cited leaked set images of the Weasley twins out in the Muggle world as a source of this color-coded theory. This theory has other fans appreciating this small detail.

One fan complimented the production team for this small addition, as it didn’t portray the twins as a monolith like the movies did:

“Nice. I’m not a fan of treating twin characters as a single entity, and it seems like they’re not doing that here.”

One of the first replies to the comment above was that of a fan who complained about the duo speaking simultaneously in the movies:

“I didn’t like how they did that in the movies. In the books they only speak simultaneously maybe a couple times (the only time I can think of is in book 7 when they say “We’re identical!” after transforming into Harry). They also don’t really finish each other’s sentences so much as they just “yes and” each other’s banter at lightning speed.”

Another comment pointed out another important detail about the twins. Both of them also wear bracelets on their wrists, but on opposite sides:

“They are also wearing a bracelet on the opposite side of wrist.”

This bracelet detail is a logical expansion of the Harry Potter lore, though the films did depict the twins as a monolith, speaking in unison. Moreover, this small detail also hints at something deeper.

The series might be setting the Weasley twins’ arc early on:

One of the most criticized aspects of the eight Harry Potter movies is that they cut out a lot of important details. For example, the film adaptation cut out the Weasley twins’ plotline from the books, which saw them lose their money in the fourth movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The book version of Goblet of Fire ends with Harry handing over his Triwizard winnings to the twins for their joke shop.

While the joke shop, Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, appears in the sixth movie, Half-Blood Prince, they never went into detail about how the twins managed to get their funding. Moreover, earlier chapters of the Goblet of Firebook also mention the twins’ ambitions of opening a joke shop.

Thus, the first three seasons of the HBO series could hint at the twins’ ambitions by including scenes of the twins experimenting with their various products.

All eight movies of the Harry Potter film franchise are streaming on HBO Max. Re-watch them all before the show airs this Christmas.
