Two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra’s wife Himani Mor has reportedly quit tennis and is now focusing on building a career in sports business. Himani is a former professional tennis player who achieved a career-best ranking of 42 in women’s singles in 2018 – the same year she made her debut. Besides, she also played doubles event and reached a career-high ranking of 27.
Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, Himani’s father Chand Mor revealed that she also turned down a Rs 1.5 crore sports-related job offer in USA and instead will focus on her own business now. Currently, she is with Neeraj in Europe where the star India athlete is undergoing training.
Himani holds a degree in Political Science from Delhi University. She has also done Sports and Fitness management from Franklin Pierce University.
Family Waiting To Host Reception
Earlier this year in January, Neeraj and Himani got married in a private ceremony with the duo announcing the news via social media. The wedding was held at a private resort in Solan (Himachal Pradesh). Soon after the ceremony, the couple left for USA and due to Neeraj’s packed schedule, the family is still waiting to host their wedding reception.
Currently, Himani is managing the Tokyo Olympic gold medalist’s diet and training sessions.
Himani’s Love For Tennis
Born in 1999, Himani began playing tennis when she was in school and studying in fourth class. However, the family wanted her to focus on boxing, wrestling and kabaddi. She learned the trick of the trade from her mother who herself was a Physical Training Instructor (PTI). She made her professional debut in 2018 and went on to achieve her career-best ranking in the same year. Besides that, Himani has represented Delhi University at national level and also participated in the World University Games 2017.
Chopra Pulls Out Of Silesia Diamond League
Fan will have to wait longer to see Chopra in action after the star javelin thrower withdrew from the upcoming Silesia Diamond League. His last competitive appearance was at the Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru which he won. While no official reason has been given for the withdrawal, it’s likely that the 27-year-old may want to stay fresh and focus on the next month’s world athletics championships.
