Victoria Beckham is the newest member of the “Call Her Daddy” gang, appearing on the podcast on Wednesday morning.

Fresh off the release of the former singer’s Netflix documentary, Beckham sat down to chat with host Alex Cooper about her family, The Spice Girls, and — of course — her distinct (and iconic) fashion eras.

After the Spice Girls, Beckham quickly embraced her professional WAG era. During the interview, she discussed the trips she took with the team, including the wives of other Manchester United soccer players.

“I had big boobs. I had very big boobs and I would wear little tiny hot pants or tiny, tiny short skirts,” she remembers. “I look at those pictures and I smile because I think it’s been such a journey,” she reminisces.

But it wasn’t what it looked like on the surface — at least when it came to her style. “I think we were out shopping on Bond Street, and this was not a real Louis Vuitton handbag. This was a fake one,” she shares of the bag she was carrying. “And Marc Jacobs, who was the creative director of Louis Vuitton, got in touch with me when he saw this picture, and he’s like, I’m going to send you a real one.”

“Not as posh as you think, Alex. Not all the time,” laughs Beckham.

The multi-hyphenate has been open about her personal struggles throughout her career, reflecting, “I think that was again another … you know … it was me … that was me showing that I was actually really insecure. And that is how I stayed relevant. That is how I stayed in the conversation.”

It seemed like a natural progression into the fashion world, as she added, “That’s how I expressed myself because I did not have the creative outlet that I do have now, nor when I was in the Spice Girls.”

Now standing at the helm of one of the buzziest major British fashion houses in the last decade, it seems strange to think that she is the same strong, independent woman who once felt she needed to carry a fake Louis Vuitton bag to stay in the headlines.

While the businesswoman may not have always been “Posh,” she will forever be regarded for her excellent eye for contemporary fashion.
