release Epstein files: Melania Trump’s surprise Instagram announcement backfires as all critics unite in fury and demand one thing

Melania Trump planned to bring back her “Be Best” initiative when she returned to the White House as first lady. This weekend, she took to her official Instagram handle to make an announcement about her “Be Best” campaign.

But she faced immense backlash over her recent post, with several netizens questioning her over the same thing. “America’s foster youth received a $30 million housing commitment in yesterday’s FY26 THUD appropriations bill,” Melania wrote.

Melania continued: “Thank you @rep_stevewomack and the House Appropriations Committee for supporting this key priority of Fostering the Future, a BE BEST initiative.”

Why is Melania Trump facing backlash?

But the announcement didn’t garner the reaction she may have expected as it was met with swift backlash. Her statement comes after Melania allegedly made a scathing seven-word remark about “snakes” Ivanka and Jared Kushner, according to an ex-aide.

Critics wasted no time and quickly flooded Melania’s comment section with demands to release the Epstein files. US President Donald Trump is struggling to handle a divide in his own Make America Great Again (MAGA) over his administration’s handling of files related to late disgraced financer and notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

One responded: “Best release the EPSTEIN files!!!” A second asked: “Can you Be Best – and release the Epstein Files?!?!” Another echoed: “Be best released the Epstein files.”

“I really don’t care, do you?,” another said, referencing the infamous “I really don’t care” jacket that Melania wore on a trip to a migrant child detention centre during her husband’s first term.

“Can’t be best when everyone is poor and hungry,” a fifth person stated.

The First Lady also faced massive backlash over Trump’s widespread budget cuts. One wrote: “Cutting Aid to the needy and starving is NOT being best!!! No food and medical supplies is Not America being their best , how can any of you spend millions and deny fellow human beings the basic necessities? God sees you and will Know you Not!”

“If you really want us to “be best” then please leave and take grandpa with you,” a second said. Another commented: “Be best is one way to cover up your husband’s failings.”

What is Melania Trump’s ‘Be Best’ campaign?

Be Best is the public awareness campaign that Melania launched in 2018 during Donald’s first term. It originally focused on children’s social media use, well-being and opioid abuse and in 2019 was widened to include online safety, reports The Irish Star.

Melania Trump in January announced that she would be expanding the children’s wellness platform upon her return to the White House. “I will continue with Be Best and also I will expand Be Best,” she told Fox News’s Ainsley Earhardt.

“In the first administration, I didn’t have much support from anyone,” Melania noted. “I invited all of the streaming platforms to the White House. I had the roundtable. And I didn’t have much support from them,” she said.

“Imagine what we could do in those years if they will rally behind me, and teach the children and do protect them about the social media and their mental health?” she added.
