Twenty-seven-year-old Sarfaraz Khan, known for his explosive domestic form, has long faced criticism for fitness despite his cricketing potential. However, he has now lost 17 kilos in two months in a dramatic transformation that is capturing massive attention.
Sarfaraz Khan has undergone a jaw-dropping transformation, losing a whopping 17 kilos of weight in just two months. The 27-year-old cricketer, who missed out on the crucial five-match tour despite an impressive start to his Test career, posted a photo on Instagram of himself looking extremely fit. Sarfaraz revealed, “Lost 17 kgs,” prompting a wave of admiration for his dedication and grit.
Sarfaraz, who has often been questioned for his fitness despite raking up tons of runs in domestic cricket tournaments, has shown how to change the narrative. The batter, who made a promising start to his Test career, was left out of India’s squad for the England tour mainly for his fitness issues. Even though the snub was a tough pill to swallow for him, instead of being disappointed, Sarfaraz used it as fuel for transformation — quite literally.
So, how did the youngster, looking for a place in the Indian team, become leaner?
Changed his diet and stopped eating roti, rice and sugar
According to the Hindustan Times, the key to Sarfaraz’s transformation happened with a complete overhaul and change in his diet. “We cut out roti, rice, sugar, and all bakery items. Meals now consist of grilled fish, chicken, eggs, salads, broccoli, cucumber, and avocados. Even tea and coffee have been replaced with green tea and green coffee,” said his father and coach, Naushad Khan.
Sarfaraz followed this strict regime diligently for more than a month, which helped him boost his energy and aid muscle recovery as well. According to experts, the weight loss will help in his overall well-being, which is crucial for elite performance.
Sarfaraz’s fitness
Though his Test debut got delayed, Sarfaraz’s commitment off the field also made all the difference moving forward. Spending time in the gym and doing strength training is extremely important for a cricketer.
And Sarfaraz seems to be ticking both boxes now.
