Cricketer Sarfaraz Khan recently surprised fans by sharing a much leaner and slimmer picture of himself on Instagram. The 27-year-old, known for his strong performance in cricket, has reportedly lost 17 kgs in just over two months. Sarfaraz has always impressed with his batting in domestic cricket, but many people often pointed out his lack of fitness. Now, his intense weight loss is getting attention both on and off the field.

So, how did cricketer Sarfaraz Khan lose so much weight in 2 months?

In May, during the India A tour, Sarfaraz’s father and coach, Naushad Khan, spoke openly about the cricketer’s journey. He revealed that the entire family joined Sarfaraz in adopting a cleaner, healthier lifestyle.

“We stopped eating roti, rice, sugar, flour, and anything from the bakery,” Naushad told Hindustan Times. Their new diet included grilled chicken, fish, boiled eggs, sprouts, salads, broccoli, cucumber, and avocados. Regular tea and coffee were replaced with green tea and green coffee.

Even cheat meals like biryani, one of Sarfaraz’s favourites, were off the menu. Naushad said Sarfaraz lost around 10 kgs within just one and a half months of starting this routine. “He is still working on reducing more weight,” he added.

Sarfaraz’s weight loss journey became a family mission. Naushad himself lost 12 kgs to delay a knee replacement surgery. “The doctor had advised me surgery, but I wanted to try losing weight first. So I followed the same diet,” he said.

Sarfaraz Khan’s lifestyle change was a ‘long-term decision’

This change in lifestyle was not a short-term fix. It was a long-term decision to improve overall health, boost energy, and speed up recovery, which is an important factor for any sportsperson.

Though Sarfaraz is still waiting for a regular spot in the Indian Test team, his improved fitness could strengthen his chances. In today’s cricket, fitness is no longer optional. And Sarfaraz seems to be working hard on both his form and fitness.
