Tamannaah Bhatia is not just a loved actor but is also followed and admired for her dedication to enviable fitness and glowing appearance. While many people just wonder about her diet and exercise regimen, her fitness trainer has given a glimpse of how she goes about it.

On social media, Siddhartha Singh also revealed the five worst foods that most people consume when they go on a weight loss journey, as these are everyday staples found in most Indian households. Siddhartha says if you want to be lean, you need to make proper choices.

Aloo paratha

Aloo paratha is among the most popular breakfast foods across many homes in northern India. However, according to Siddhartha, not only is it dense in calories, but it is packed with carbs and fats as well.

Being low in fibre and protein, aloo paratha in your diet can lead to a calorie surplus, a spike in blood sugar levels, and poor satiety, which leads to eating more. Also, the generous amounts of oil or ghee used in preparation increase its calorie and fat content, making it difficult to stay within a calorie deficit for weight loss.

Sugary carbonated drinks

Sugary and carbonated drinks like colas only add to your weight gain, as they have empty calories and do not provide any kind of nutrition. However, according to Siddhartha, colas are not able to promote feelings of fullness – leading to consuming more calories overall.

Sugary drinks also cause significant blood sugar spikes, increased fat storage in your liver, and are linked to health issues like obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Chole bhature

Chole bhature is one of the most popular street foods, yet it is high in calories and fat since bhatura, made with high-refined flour, are deep-fried.

Not only is the dish packed with unhealthy and saturated fat that contributes to weight gain, but regular consumption can also lead to an increase in bad or LDL cholesterol – a trigger for heart diseases, including heart attacks and strokes. Siddharatha says maida in bhatura also causes blood sugar spikes, which can hinder fat burning.

Processed foods

Processed and ultra-processed foods like chips, instant noodles, and ready-to-eat meals are loaded with preservatives, sodium, and unhealthy fats. Siddhartha says these foods are engineered for overconsumption, which causes an increased calorie intake and reduced satiety despite being calorically dense.

Apart from high amounts of sugar and unhealthy fats, processed foods are packed with sodium and do not have any nutrition that your body needs, like fibre or protein, thereby contributing to weight gain, poor metabolic health, and increased cravings.
