The next movie from director Robert Eggers (The Witch, Nosferatu) is 13th century werewolf movie Werwulf for Focus Features, and ScreenDaily reports that filming has begun.
ScreenDaily reports, “Filming is underway on Robert Eggers’s Werwulf in the UK. Production is based out of Sky Studios Elstree with location filming in Dartmoor, Devon.”
Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Lily-Rose Depp will star.
Set in the 13th century and being described as a medieval horror movie, Robert Eggers’ Werwulf will howl its way into theaters from Focus Features on Christmas Day 2026.
“The story centres around a mysterious creature who stalks a foggy countryside as local folklore becomes a terrifying reality for the villagers.”
The filmmaker co-wrote the screenplay for Werwulf alongside Sjón, the Icelandic poet and novelist who previously co-wrote the Viking movie The Northman with Eggers.
Chris Columbus, who produced Nosferatu, is on board to produce Werwulf.
Eggers recently teased, “It’s the darkest thing I’ve ever written. By far.”
