Santa Clarita Valley residents looking for a musical museum experience may want to make the trip downtown to check out the Grammy Museum.

For the 178th installment of KHTS’ Extremely Quirky Destinations series, we’re heading to the Grammy Museum.

As the name implies, the Grammy Museum celebrates the legacy of the Grammy Awards while exploring the history, creativity and cultural impact of music.

One of the museum’s newest exhibits is Olivia Rodrigo: Note by Note, which opened in September 2026 and will remain on display through Feb. 22, 2027.

The exhibit takes visitors through Rodrigo’s three-time Grammy Award-winning career, offering fans an up-close look at stage-worn outfits and accessories from her world tours supporting her first two albums, SOUR and GUTS. It also features dresses from the cover art of her newest album, “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love,” along with items from the inaugural Daisy Chain Fields music festival.

For Rodrigo fans, the fun doesn’t end there. The museum also features a second temporary exhibit, “The Cure Unraveled.”

The exhibit showcases the handmade immersive sets, props and original artwork created for “The Cure” music video from Rodrigo’s recently released album, “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.”

Visitors can get an intimate look at how the visually distinctive music video was made, including original props, storyboards, behind-the-scenes photography and interactive photo opportunities.

An expanded version of the exhibit, featuring even more of Rodrigo’s creative world and never-before-seen artifacts, is set to open in fall 2026, with additional details to be announced.

The “the cure” music video takes place inside an entirely handmade hospital, where Rodrigo seeks an antidote to her feelings by experimenting on felted human hearts inside the “OR.”

Directed by Cat Solen and Jaime Gerin, the video follows Rodrigo as she explores the complexities of love and, in the process, finds herself unraveling. The finished video was crafted almost entirely by hand, incorporating miniatures, animatronic heart puppets and stop-motion animation.

Production designer Liam Moore transformed nearly every surface and object using cardboard and hand-painted details, creating a tactile, surreal world that brings Rodrigo’s emotional journey to life.

Another exhibit explores the legacy of one of the most famous musicians in music history: Michael Jackson.

The Michael Jackson exhibit explores his beginnings with his brothers in the Jackson 5, the role of their father, Joe Jackson, and Michael’s eventual rise as a solo artist and the “King of Pop.”

For an exhibit that combines music and fashion, visitors can check out On The Red Carpet.

So many times on the red carpet, the question is, “Who are you wearing tonight?” Over the years, the red carpet has become a place for fashion designers to showcase some of their most dazzling designs, generating buzz alongside highly anticipated performances and award ceremonies.

The exhibit explores decades of red-carpet fashion, featuring looks associated with artists such as Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston and NSYNC.

One of the museum’s more interactive exhibits is Musical Crossroads.

“Musical Crossroads” is a sprawling digital touch table that allows visitors to explore hundreds of artists, singles, albums, decades and music scenes while discovering the connections between them.

The interactive experience gives visitors a chance to hear music they already love while discovering new artists and sounds.

Created in partnership with IBM, Musical Crossroads is a 21st-century version of the museum’s original Crossroads table, which debuted when the museum opened in 2008. The updated version uses AI models and IBM watsonx to identify patterns across genres, artists and eras, revealing how sounds evolve and influence one another over time.

Beyond the exhibits already mentioned, the Grammy Museum features several other experiences, including “Shining Like A National Guitar,” “The Sounds of Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow,” “Sonic Playground,” “Tower of Song: Iconic Songwriters & Recordings,” and the “Mono To Immersive Experience Room.”

With exhibits covering everything from legendary musicians and fashion to interactive technology and the creative process behind music videos, the Grammy Museum offers plenty for music fans of all ages to explore.
