Three friends of Nolan Wells have filed a defamation lawsuit against a TikTok creator who they say repeatedly accused them of killing the 18-year-old during a Fourth of July boat trip in Mississippi. Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo and Morgan Seymour filed the lawsuit in Mississippi against Sandra L. Butler, who allegedly runs the TikTok account “gods_bestgirl” and uses the name “Royalty.” According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the three men say Butler accused them of killing Wells on a boat, leaving the scene, tampering with his phone and lying to hide what happened. The friends deny the claims and say Wells was a close friend.

The lawsuit says Butler told her followers, “They are guilty. They did something,” and later claimed that one of the men picked Wells up and slammed him onto the boat. Hudson, Pitalo and Seymour say those claims are false and have denied any role in Wells’ death.

The lawsuit also says Butler continued making posts about the three friends after a Jackson County grand jury declined to bring criminal charges in September. The plaintiffs say she described their version of events as “a story to cover their tracks” and claimed someone had accessed and deleted information from Wells’ phone.

What happened to Nolan Wells on Horn Island?

Wells disappeared during a Fourth of July boating trip to Mississippi’s Horn Island. His body was found in the water two days later.

A Jackson County grand jury later returned a “no true bill,” meaning no criminal charges were filed. The panel reviewed evidence from the investigation, including testimony from 43 witnesses and 132 subpoenas. It found the position, condition, time and location of Wells’ body were consistent with drowning. However, his official cause and manner of death remained undetermined.

The lawsuit against Butler seeks damages. Hudson, Pitalo and Seymour are also asking the court to stop Butler from posting about them, contacting them or sharing their private information. TMZ reported the lawsuit on October 6, citing the court documents.
