‘Maybe best’ – MLB superfan ‘Marlins Man’ opens up on viral Dua Lipa interaction at Yankees game

Dua Lipa ran into one of the most recognisable sports superfans in the United States at the New York Yankees game, and he posted his verdict on the international pop star afterwards.

Laurence Leavy, a Florida lawyer and one of the most recognisable sports superfans in America, is known popularly as ‘Marlins Man’. He is known for showing up in his bright orange Miami Marlins jersey and visor for most major sporting eventsm like the World Series, Super Bowl, and NBA Finals.

Marlins Man was in attendance for Game 3 of the ALDS between the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees lost 4-3 and ended up getting swept in what was a fairly embarrassing series loss, while Leavy had a great time in the stands. A lot of it had to do with who he was sitting next to.

Dua Lipa is one of the most popular musical artists in the world. She is a pop icon, and is adored by millions across the globe. Known for being quite fun-loving and ‘regular’, it seems there is now another reason to believe that ‘don’t meet your heroes’ doesn’t apply to the popstar.

A video of Leavy talking to Lipa went viral on social media, with hilarious captions suggesting he was ‘rizzing her up’. In response, Marlins Man posted a selfie of himself with the global superstar along with a very complimentary caption.

“She is super nice. Maybe best ever celebrity I met,” he captioned his post. In another post with the same picture, he added, “Was her first game and first hot dog ever.”

Many fans in the replies expressed their jealousy at the experience he had talking to one of the most popular and beloved women on the planet. From what the superfan had to say about Dua Lipa, it seems that the jealousy is quite warranted, too.
