A clip of Ronaldo from his wife’s documentary is going viral on social media
Cristiano Ronaldo’s ego has never been a secret — it’s how he became one of the most dominant forces the sport of soccer has ever seen. In recent years, however, it’s taken on an entirely new context as it increasingly shows itself in head-scratching ways, earning him the nickname “Homelander.”
Ronaldo has been all over the news this month after he stormed out of the Portugal national team camp over a beef with new manager Jorge Jesus. To anyone with an objective eye, it’s been obvious that Ronaldo remaining Portugal’s starting striker has been a hinderance from the team at recent international tournaments.
Jesus finally did something about it by benching Ronaldo for Portugal’s recent match against Norway. The 41-year-old responded by bailing on the team and releasing a nearly 2,000-word-long statement.
The former Real Madrid star’s ego apparently extends beyond the pitch to the dinner table, as a viral clip from a Netflix docuemtnary about his partner Georgina Rodriguez showed him struggling to contain his frustration when his children named their mother as the most famous person they know.
Ronaldo: “Who is the most famous person you know?”
His kids: “Mom.”Ronaldo’s face after their answer is too funny

“He’s actually sick man, the worst part about Ronaldo’s arrogance is that he genuinely wants people to feed it, it’s so different from Ibrahimovic where he clearly doesn’t need validation from anyone to keep doing it, and it’s rather comical than a beg, Ronaldo genuinely thinks everyone owes him adoration and applause,” one viral reaction read.
“You see stuff like this and you realize that Ronaldo is driven by deep insecurity about himself. He can’t accept himself if he finishes 2nd in anything, he requires constant validation and is incapable of accepting his own human imperfections. Tragic solipsism,” a second concurred.

In his statement about his emotional outburst over his benching, Ronaldo accused Jesus — who was his manager at Al Nassr from July 2025 to June 2026 — of breaking promises regarding playing time and issuing a false narrative to the media.
“To my absolute surprise, the coach asked me whether I was ready to play 30 minutes [against Norway],” Ronaldo said. “I was completely focused on my physical recovery, integrated with my teammates as always, and thinking that I would not play that day. I had no problem with that.”
“This request was outside my physical recovery and training plan — because I was only supposed to play on Oct. 4 at the Dragão — but obviously I said yes. He told me to be prepared because I would play 30 minutes. Everyone knows what happened next. I warmed up from halftime, watched the minutes go by, and was not called upon. The coach had broken his word to me.”
His statement also displayed a healthy dose of his aforementioned ego, as he compared himself to Pele and Maradona (while this is objectively true, it’s the self-referential nature of it that’s so unusual).
Both Pele and Maradona — inferior athletes but more naturally talented footballers than Ronaldo — both retired at 37 years old. Ronaldo turns 42 in February and is still demanding preferential treatment with the national team.
