CHATTANOOGA — The inaugural Mental Health Hero Awards will be held this month at the Westin, recognizing people and organizations making a difference in mental health across Chattanooga.
The event is being hosted by the AIM Center, a nonprofit that serves adults living with serious mental illness and focuses on mental health recovery.

The awards include 10 categories recognizing a range of contributions, including health care, advocacy, youth work and a lifetime achievement award.
Organizers say the event is designed to recognize people whose work is often done behind the scenes while helping reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.
The AIM Center also provides a community-based place where people can work toward independence, employment, housing and other personal goals while connecting with others experiencing similar challenges.
Organizers encourage people struggling with their mental health to seek support and emphasize that recovery can be a shared process and that people do not have to face those challenges alone.
Nominees and award recipients are being highlighted on the AIM Center’s website and social media pages ahead of the ceremony.
