US President Donald Trump has warned people against using the term “artificial intelligence”, saying those who ignore his preferred phrase, “super intelligence”, will be considered “THE ENEMY”.
Trump made the remarks in a post on his Truth Social platform on Thursday. He did not specify what action or consequences would follow for those who continue to use the term “artificial intelligence”.
“The White House considers anyone that uses the term, ‘Artificial Intelligence,’ as opposed to the highly accepted new and more accurate term, ‘Super Intelligence,’ THE ENEMY!” Trump wrote.
Trump Pushes For ‘Super Intelligence’
Trump first proposed replacing “artificial intelligence” with “super intelligence” during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly last month. At the time, he said the new term “sounds much better”.
In late September, Trump also signed an executive order requiring the use of the term “super intelligence” across the US government.
The order, however, does not apply to private companies. Despite this, some businesses and technology figures have already started using the term.
Meta, led by Mark Zuckerberg, has adopted the phrase, while Trump ally Elon Musk has also used “super intelligence” in posts on his social media platform X.
Political Debate Over AI Terminology
The debate over the terminology comes amid growing concerns about artificial intelligence, including questions around its safety and the rapid expansion of data centres across the US.
