SNF opens Regional Technology Centre in India

SNF Flopam India (SNF) has inaugurated next-generation, world-class R&D facility known as Regional SNF Technical Centre (RSTC India) for core flooding, compatibility study and Chemical EOR screening.

In January 2024, SNF has announced investment of Rs.1, 000 crore (US$ 120 million) expansion plan which will increase production capacity from existing annual 258,000 MT to 458,000 MT.

This new centre will serve as SNF’s R&D hub for the entire India. By establishing a dedicated research and development (R&D) hub in India, SNF aims to bring SNF’s global expertise in Polyacrylamide Chemistry and advanced EOR Technologies in India.

Further, this centre will also facilitate joint projects with oil operators in India. RSTC-India will make complex core flooding and analytical studies for EOR possible in India. This will significantly reduce the logistic and analysis time of sending samples out of India for testing.

This event was attended by dignitaries from ONGC (Mehsana-Ahmedabad Assets), ONGC (IRS and RGL), Vedanta (Cairn India), Oil India, Sun Petro, BASF, Syensqo, Mannan Oil Field Services, Artson, Gumpro, SDF, Petra, IOGCA and representatives from institutes like PDEU(Gandhinagar) and RGIPT(Amethi).

Integrated project management solution provided by SNF at North Kadi ( Mehsana Asset) has reduced water cut and increased oil production significantly” remarked by Bimal Kumar, Head Engineering service Ahmedabad Asset ONGC.

The RSTC-India is a hub of innovation with advanced laboratory equipment and specialised resources for polymer studies. It focuses on high-performance anionic polymers (HPAM) for oil and gas applications. Dedicated scientists and chemists at RSTC-India specialised in critical areas, including chemical EOR, water shut-off, hydraulic fracturing, drilling and cementing, and production chemicals.

SNF Group (France) is the world’s leading manufacturer of polyacrylamide with more than 1.5 million tonnes capacity.

SNF has set up its manufacturing facility at Gandhidham (Kachchh), Gujarat. From this facility SNF is selling its product with wide range of application in Oil & Gas for drilling, Enhanced Oil Recovery, drag reducer in fracking, water shutoff and produced water treatment.
