Investing.com– Hitachi Ltd (TYO:6501) said on Friday it had joined Anthropic’s cybersecurity program for critical infrastructure, flagging growing cyber risks from advances in artificial intelligence.
The Japanese energy and transportation conglomerate said in a press release it had joined Anthropic’s Critical Infrastructure Defense Program as a founding partner. The program, Hitachi said, is aimed at strengthening cyber defense for critical infrastructure such as utilities and transportation services.

The program seeks to strengthen cybersecurity by integrating Anthropic’s Claude models into products and services in the sector.
Hitachi said it had continued to expand its partnership with Anthropic after the two agreed to collaborate in June.
Cybersecurity has emerged as a major point of focus in AI development, after a series of high profile hacks and breaches by AI agents earlier this year. Anthropic had called for a slowdown in AI development to prevent more such incidents, and had flagged mounting cybersecurity risks from AI.
