Michael Carrick delivered team news for Manchester United before the visit of Tottenham.

The Red Devils are on a three-game winless streak in the Premier League, following a 2-2 draw with Everton, 1-0 loss to Manchester City and 1-1 draw with Fulham, and have also bowed out of the Carabao Cup thanks to a third round 3-2 defeat to Brighton.

It is a shock to the system for the side that picked up the most points in the English top flight during the interim coaching spell of Carrick.

‘Carlos Baleba is improving’

The 45-year-old has not been helped with a few absences over the course of the season. An issue for Luke Shaw before the Manchester derby demonstrated the hole in the fullback department for the squad, while Carlos Baleba has been absent for the whole campaign because of an ankle injury.

Amad has also been on the sidelines for over a month with an ankle problem of his own, leaving Carrick without a senior alternative to Bryan Mbeumo on the right wing. Excessive excuses cannot be made for the team’s form, but there has been some positive news to help their cause this week.

Carrick’s full fitness update

“Yeah, it’s been a long time since we sat here last. A little bit mixed really through the internationals.

“Patrick Dorgu came off and looks like he’ll be out for probably a number of weeks. Noussair Mazraoui came off and took a knock. He’s not quite right yet, so we’ll have to see how he is.

“Carlos Baleba is improving. He’s trained a lot. He’s improving. Amad has done a little bit of training. Marcus Rashford has done a little bit of training. Kobbie Mainoo has done a little bit of training. So, a little bit mixed, really, between the group.

“Benjamin Sesko is a little bit further away with the issue he’s got, so he won’t be ready.”
