Media representatives explore Sri Lanka’s tourism attractions ahead of publishing coverage for Singaporean audiences.
A delegation of media representatives from Singapore, including Ms Nomita Dhar, Editor-in-Chief of IN Diplomacy, undertook a Media Familiarisation Tour to Sri Lanka from 1 to 7 November 2026, organised by the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and the Singapore Press Club. The initiative aimed to promote Sri Lanka as a tourism destination among Singaporean travellers by providing participating journalists with first-hand exposure to the country’s cultural heritage, natural landscapes and tourism offerings.
The delegation was led by Mr Bhagman Singh, Vice-President of the Singapore Press Club, and comprised media representatives participating in the week-long programme. During their visit, the journalists had the opportunity to experience Sri Lanka’s diverse tourism attractions, including its cultural heritage, natural beauty, hospitality and culinary offerings.

The familiarisation tour was organised as part of the High Commission of Sri Lanka’s efforts to engage media organisations in Singapore and increase awareness of the country’s tourism sector. Through direct exposure to the destination, the programme sought to provide participating journalists with insights and experiences that could be shared with Singaporean readers and audiences through their respective media platforms.
Ahead of the departure, the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore hosted a pre-departure briefing on 28 October 2026 at its premises. The session was attended by the participating media representatives, while officials from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau joined virtually.

The briefing provided an overview of the tour programme and introduced the participants to Sri Lanka’s tourism experiences and attractions. It also served as an opportunity to familiarise the delegation with the itinerary and the range of experiences planned during their stay.
Following the visit, the participating journalists were expected to share their experiences and impressions through their respective media platforms. Their coverage was intended to provide Singaporean audiences with information about Sri Lanka’s tourism attractions, cultural heritage, hospitality and culinary experiences.
The initiative reflected the continued efforts of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore to facilitate people-to-people and media engagement between Sri Lanka and Singapore, working with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Singapore Press Club to raise awareness of Sri Lanka’s tourism potential.
