Much like its protagonist during one of his spectacular stunts, a fourth season of Lupin has been climbing Netflix’s UK charts and is currently at number three in the top 10 of the most-watched content on the streamer.

Starring Omar Sy as Assane Diop, a gentleman thief and master of disguise inspired by the fictional Arsène Lupin, the series has returned for a fourth season with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.

The show is co-created by George Kay, known for the first season of Killing Eve and new legal drama War, and François Uzan and is loosely based on the character created by French author Maurice Leblanc.

Lupin part 4 premiered on Netflix on 23 October, seeing Assane dealing with a tech-savvy copycat thief challenging him to the battles of the Lupins.

Amid nerve-racking heists, including a casual stroll up the Eiffel Tower, Assane needs to find his rival while working to mend his relationship with his teenage son Raoul, now played by Théo Christine.

Also starring in the show are Ludivine Sagnier as Assane’s estranged wife and Raoul’s mum, Claire Laurent, Antoine Gouy as Assane’s best friend, Benjamin Férel, and Clotilde Hesme as Juliette Pellegrini.

After debuting at number 8 in Netflix’s UK charts last week, the series has jumped up to number three – and it looks like it could continue its ascent.

Part 4 follows in the footsteps of season 3, which also boasted a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The latest instalment has a 100% critic score at the time of writing, with reviews praising Sy’s “magnetic” performance (via The Guardian) and the “even better” action sequences compared to its prior instalments (via Collider).

Elsewhere, FandomWire branded the series “satisfying” but argued that the technology “sometimes does too much of the plotting”, with Screen Rant calling it “a thrilling joyride with enough charm to spare”.

Lupin season 4 is streaming on Netflix now. Seasons 1-3 are available on the same platform.
