Nathan Fielder is using his commercial pilot’s license to fly You Can See Everything to the top of the box office. The film barely beat Clayface to number 1 on Halloweekend, with $10.6 million in its third week of release. Clayface grabbed $10.4 mil in its second week of release. At number 3 was Wildwood with $7.49 million. Wicker brought in $4.1 million at number 4, but this doesn’t include last Wednesday’s 4DX screenings. And finishing at number 5 was Street Fighter with $3.2 mil.
Halloween weekend is traditional a poor one for the box office, as folks are taking to the street in search of candy or getting compliments on their Molly the Animatronic Bird costume. But the neck-and-neck competition between YCSE and Clayface made an otherwise sleepy weekend more exciting for box office heads. Both films were hovering in the $10.5 zone for much of the weekend, and it was only halfway through Sunday that the Oppenheim/Fielder joint pulled ahead. The doc has become one of the biggest topics of cultural conversation this Halloween. Elizabeth Holmes was one of several controversial women Tana Mongeau dressed up as this year, and Drunk Uncle came to her defense on “Weekend Update” Halloween night. Because why would she deceive him?
