WANA (Nov 02) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran remains ready to pursue diplomacy but would deliver a heavier response than in the past if faced with deception or further military action.

Speaking about the latest developments in indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, Araghchi said consultations through mediators had intensified given the sensitivity of the current situation. He noted that Qatar and Pakistan were playing an active role in the process.

He said Iran had already presented its conditions and proposed framework, adding that the next steps depended on Washington’s political judgment.

“If they choose sincere diplomacy, we are ready to engage. But if they intend to resort to deception and military operations, they will face a response more bitter and more forceful than before,” Araghchi said.

Addressing Iran’s conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, the foreign minister said Tehran’s position was clear and transparent. He stated that the strait would be reopened and negotiations resumed if Iran’s conditions were accepted. Otherwise, the current situation would continue, and Iran would not bow to pressure.

Araghchi also described relations between Iran and Turkmenistan as positive, citing the two countries’ historical, cultural, family, political and economic ties.

He emphasized that both sides had consistently demonstrated the political will to maintain and strengthen bilateral relations.

Describing his latest visit to Turkmenistan as positive, Araghchi said he had provided the country’s president and foreign minister with detailed briefings on the latest regional developments, negotiations and the readiness of Iran’s armed forces.

He added that major joint economic projects were also reviewed during the visit and important executive decisions were made to advance cooperation between the two countries.
