Donald and Melania Trump are experiencing another embarrassment as the recent documentary about the first lady was completely overshadowed at the box office by comedian Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s latest A24 production.
You Can See Everything, the much-awaited documentary tracking the discredited Theranos founder during the period before her 11-year prison term, launched at the box office with an impressive $13 million, securing its position as the second-largest opening weekend in documentary history since Michael Moore’s critically acclaimed 2004 release Fahrenheit 9/11. The non-fiction feature about the white-collar criminal earned twice the opening weekend revenue of the 56-year-old first lady’s recent documentary, Melania.
This development comes after Melania Trump’s flop documentary saw a 67% decline during its second weekend in theaters.

You Can See Everything was backed by independent powerhouse A24 with a $7 million production budget, while the filmmakers invested approximately $10 million in promotional efforts, with specifics remaining closely guarded before its October 16 cinema debut.
Melania, helmed by disgraced filmmaker Brett Ratner and backed by Amazon Studios, generated only $7 million in ticket revenue, although that figure was noteworthy for a documentary launch. In sharp contrast, Melania carried a substantial $40 million production cost plus a $35 million advertising budget, rendering it a disastrous flop, reports the Irish Star.

Despite the film’s poor box office performance, Donald Trump, 80, praised his wife as a “movie star,” celebrated the “number one” film, and quipped that “we can’t have two stars in one family.”
In the new documentary, Fielder, recognized for his absurdist comedy infused with social critique on programs such as Nathan For You, The Rehearsal, and The Curse, stays with Holmes and her spouse in the period before her incarceration following her fraud conviction.
The documentary generated significant attention after a preview was unveiled featuring the 42-year-old convicted felon and the 43-year-old locked in an intense gaze as she eerily says, “I don’t have anything to deceive you on. Of course I’m not deceiving you. I’m engaging with you as a human being. Why would I deceive you? There’s no reason for me to do that.”
Following its secret-screening premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in September, admirers of Fielder’s projects and intrigued viewers filled cinemas to watch the nearly three-hour documentary, setting the stage for a successful theatrical release.
You Can See Everything launched with a 99% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 98% audience rating. Melania arrived in theaters on January 30, 2026, and received scathing reviews from critics for its polished portrayal of the first lady, with numerous reviewers labeling the film ‘propaganda.’
The movie currently sits at a 9% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, a stark difference from its 99% audience score following waves of supporters who ‘reverse review bombed’ the film in response to its catastrophic critical and box office performance.
You Can See Everything is now playing in theaters. Melania is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
