The king is dead; long live the king. While Game of Thrones has had a remarkable run over the last several years, another fantasy franchise is officially on its way to taking over the streaming charts ahead of its new season. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is almost back, and it’s coming for the crown.

According to JustWatch, Prime Video’s The Rings of Power is shooting up the worldwide streaming charts. The fantasy series is currently the No. 13 most-watched show in the world, jumping up a whopping seventeen places to surpass Game of Thrones at No. 23. Game of Thrones spin-offs rank even lower, with House of the Dragon at No. 57 and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms at No. 116.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power returns for its third season on November 11. The first four episodes of the season will be available right away, with Prime Video releasing two more episodes every week until the season finale on November 25. This ends the two-year gap between Seasons 2 and 3, which has kept the fantasy series from streaming success as of late. Game of Thrones doesn’t have any new episodes planned for the rest of 2026, giving The Rings of Power plenty of time to dominate the streaming charts for the next few months until A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms returns in 2027.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 drops viewers headlong into the War of the Elves and Sauron. The season is set five years after the events of Season 2, as Middle-earth falls to the savage war between light and dark. Alliances will be formed and broken, heroes will rise and fall, and the dark lord Sauron will preside above it all in hopes of laying claim to Middle-earth and all its people.

The new season will delve into the lore of the remaining Rings of Power, including the Nine given to kings of Men, who become Sauron’s Black Riders. It has also been confirmed that Sauron will forge the One Ring to Rule Them All at some point this season, completing the promise of the show’s title.

The Rings of Power is also building up to the epic final confrontation between Sauron and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, which will presumably be the ultimate climax of the series. Showrunners have a five-season plan for the series, indicating that audiences have at least two more seasons with its characters before the end of the Second Age and the tragedy it brings.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 premieres on November 11, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
