Receivers Stefon Diggs (3) and Terry McLaurin, part of a 23-player injury report, did not practice on Wednesday (Ben Standig)

“What do the Nile River and the Washington Commanders’ Week 5 Wednesday injury report have in common?

Both are very, very long.

Geography buffs, ‘Jeopardy!’ fanatics and anyone following Washington’s never-ending injury issues probably figured that out before the reveal.

The Nile is the world’s longest river. I don’t know how the Wednesday injury report compares historically, but 23 stands out.

The vast majority are in no danger of missing Sunday’s NFC East meeting with the 3-1 Giants, always important but especially so this time. While it’s way too early in the season to call this a must-win, a loss means the record falls to 1-4, with a Week 6 Monday night game at San Francisco followed by a bye week and home games against the Eagles and Rams.

All hands on deck.

If you can make it.
