Germany contributes €10 million to Afghanistan humanitarian aid fund

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Afghanistan has announced a €10 million donation from Germany to support Afghanistan.

OCHA stated that this funding will be allocated to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund for 2024.

On Thursday, October 17, OCHA expressed gratitude to Germany through a post on X/, highlighting that Germany’s continuous support is helping to save lives in Afghanistan.

Recently, OCHA reported that 23.7 million people, including 9.2 million children, in Afghanistan are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance this year.

Additionally, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) revealed on Wednesday that one in three people in Afghanistan is facing food insecurity due to climate shocks and economic instability.

The dire humanitarian situation in Afghanistan is further compounded by the ongoing conflict, economic collapse, and environmental crises, which continue to push millions of Afghans into poverty and hunger.

International aid remains a critical lifeline for Afghanistan, but much more is needed to address the scale of the crisis and prevent further deterioration of living conditions for vulnerable populations, especially children.
