Naslen, Girish AD’s film is not just a love story

Naslen K Gafoor is reuniting with Premalu director Girish AD, for the upcoming comedy thriller film, I Am Kathalan. The movie, which was originally launched in 2022, was put on hold for a long time, due to undisclosed technical reasons. However, recently, the makers confirmed that the Naslen starrer is gearing up for a grand theatrical release in November 2024. Ahead of the release, the cast and crew members dropped the I Am Kathalan trailer on social media, today (October 26, 2024).

The 2.30-minute-long I Am Kathalan trailer suggests that the Naslen K Gafoor starrer is not just a romantic film, as the cine-goers expected. Interestingly, the Girish AD revolves around the cat-and-mouse game between a young hacker, who hails from Irinjalakkuda, Kerala, and a powerful business group named Royal Periyadan. The protagonist hacks the company’s records under the domain name ‘Kathalan’ (lover), leaving the staff in big trouble. However, the hero, a simpleton, is confident about not getting caught, which leaves his friends shocked.

Naslen appears as the hacker, who uses the domain name ‘Kathalan’, while his real name is not revealed yet. Dileesh Pothan plays the role of a branch head who desperately tries to put an end to Kathalan’s activities, while Lijomol Jose joins as the expert, who is determined to track down the hacker. Notably, director Girish AD and his team have refrained from revealing more details of the film’s plot and characters in the trailer, leaving the cine-goers curious.

Anshima Anilkumar plays the feamle lead in the film, which stars Vineeth Vasudevan, Sajin Cherukayil, Vineeth Viswam, Arshad Ali, Kiran Josey, Arjun K, and others appear in supporting roles in the film, along with a bunch of newcomers. Sidhartha Pradeep has composed the songs and original score for I Am Kathalan. Sharan Velayudhan is the director of photography. Akash Joseph Varghese handles the editing. I Am Kathalan is slated to hit the theatres on November 7, 2024.
