Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has launched its new Digital First programme, marking a significant step forward in how patients receive hospital communications.
The initiative will see most patient letters and updates delivered digitally through the NHS App and text message as the default method of communication, helping patients receive information more quickly and reliably.
The Trust is reassuring patients that Digital First does not mean Digital Only. Patients who need or prefer paper letters will continue to have access to them, with a range of safeguards and alternative options available.
By making greater use of digital channels, the Trust aims to improve patient experience, reduce delays associated with traditional post and make it easier for people to access appointment information, clinic letters and updates.
Patients are being encouraged to download the NHS App, which provides a secure and convenient way to receive communications and access a range of NHS services.
Matt Palmer, Acting Chief Information Officer, said:
“Digital First is about giving patients faster and more convenient access to hospital information while maintaining choice and supporting those who are unable to use digital services. This approach will help us communicate more effectively with patients whilst ensuring alternative arrangements remain available where needed.”
The Trust is also asking patients to ensure their contact details, particularly mobile phone numbers, are up to date so they can benefit from digital communications.
