The 21st Hush! beach concerts will be held from 14 to 15 November at Hac Sa Beach in Coloane.

Unlike last year’s edition, which focused on East Asian cultural exchange, this year’s event adopts the theme “Energy Island”, promoting the beach as a youth-oriented hub that blends culture, wellness and community engagement.

Festival-goers will be able to explore seven themed zones, including live music stages, a dedicated youth performance area, fitness challenges, workshops and a market, largely mirroring last year’s layout.

All main performance areas will be open to the public free of charge, although some sporting events will require prior registration.

Free shuttle bus services will operate throughout the event, connecting Hac Sa Beach with Iao Hon, Fai Chi Kei, Taipa Central Park and MGM Cotai.

The event marks the fourth collaboration between the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and MGM.

Leong Wai Man, president of IC, said more than 20 local bands will form the “backbone of this year’s programme”, while a dedicated platform for youth and children’s bands will once again showcase emerging local talent.

She said local bands would bring performances and hands-on sessions to schools and communities, aiming to spark young people’s interest in pop music.

Yet the line-up unveiled in Thursday’s press release is headlined largely by overseas acts, including Chinese mainland indie rock outfit Omnipotent Youth Society, Malaysian dream-pop band babychair, Portuguese electronic producer Branko.

Last year’s industry networking programme opened doors for local bands to perform at music festivals across Singapore, Indonesia and South Korea, according to her speech.

Oraganisers will set to continue the initiative to strengthen the global reach of local band.
