Revolut will bear the cost of replacing identity documents for customers affected by a recent data breach, its chief executive for Western Europe told BFM TV, according to Reuters.
The Revolut data breach occurred after the bank sent the personal data of 680 customers to hackers.
They had taken control of an email address belonging to an Italian government agency.
Béatrice Cossa-Dumurgier said Revolut has supported all of the affected clients. Of these, 55 are in France.
However, she did not say whether any clients have replaced their ID documents yet. She also gave no estimate of the total cost.
When asked about a ransom, Cossa-Dumurgier said Revolut would not pay hackers. In addition, she said the Revolut data breach did not reach the bank’s own systems.
Government agencies, she noted, can sometimes be the weak point in the process.
