Florence Pugh in Netflix’s “East of Eden”

Netflix’s “East of Eden,” the seven-episode historical drama series adapted from John Steinbeck’s classic 1952 novel by creator Zoe Kazan (whose grandfather, Elia Kazan, directed James Dean in the 1955 original East of Eden) and starring Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott, and Mike Faist, topped all streamed content for the week ended Oct. 7, according to new data from Reelgood.com.
The series held off two HBO Max programs, A24’s horror theatrical hit Backrooms, and original series, “Lanterns,” the latter which saw the last episode generate 10.5 million global viewers during its first three days of cross-platform viewing on HBO and Max.
For the week, Max had three programs in the Top 10, followed by Netflix with two, and Paramount+, Prime Video, Peacock, Apple TV and Hulu with one program each.
