MARSHALL, Minn. — The Minnesota Charter Bus Operators Association will host an Oct. 22 free webinar on cybersecurity risks and steps motorcoach operators and industry suppliers can take to protect their businesses.
“Cybersecurity in the Motorcoach Industry: Protecting Your Business Before Something Happens” will begin at noon Central Time. MCBOA is presenting the session with DOT Security, an Impact company.
The webinar will focus on threats that can disrupt operations and expose sensitive information, including phishing, ransomware and compromised accounts. Organizers say the discussion is intended for businesses of all sizes, including those without a large internal information technology department.
Motorcoach businesses rely on technology for reservations, payments, dispatch, fleet management, accounting and communications. The session will examine where customer, employee, financial and operational information may be vulnerable.
Presenters will include Cory Carnes, chief revenue officer at DOT Security, and Edward Schmitt, the company’s senior cybersecurity analyst. They will discuss safeguards businesses can put in place, security considerations involving technology vendors, and the importance of preparing a response plan before an incident occurs.
Topics will include risks associated with email, payment systems, cloud platforms, mobile devices and third-party providers. Participants will also learn what questions to ask their IT providers, software vendors and technology partners.
The webinar is intended for motorcoach operators, suppliers, service providers and other transportation professionals. Business owners, executives and employees working in operations, dispatch, finance, safety, compliance and IT are encouraged to attend.
